The Contemporary Victorians

About us: We are a boarding home for high functioning adults with mental disabilities.  We are located downtown San Jose, near shops, the new Martin Luther King Library, San Jose State University and the upcoming City Hall. There is easy access to buses, light rails and the trail station. Many of the service providers such as the public Guardian's office, Psychiatrists, case managers,Grace Community Center, hospital and medical offices are located within minutes from the facility.
Semih & Nezih Sabankaya have owned and operated this facility since 1991. There are three Victorians that house about 62 residents.

Who do we take:  We work with adults who do not have chemical dependency or alcohol abuse. Residents are expected to manage their own financial affairs, arrange their own transportation, and deal with most of there problems with minimum staff assistance.

Our philosophy:  We have been working in the mental health field since 1974. Our other family member owns several licensed facilities and through working at these facilities we have gained much of our experience.
The residents we serve have adopted us as their extended family and we them. When treated with respect and dignity these people go a long way. We believe that it is important to support their choice to live independently as possible. With a little support now and then, most of these residents can do it.

How to contact us:  We are located at 98 North 5th Street in San Jose, California (95112). Our office number is (408)971-1124.
Most of our referrals come through the mental health agencies that know our home and us. It would be advisable to use their assistance in finding placement.
